This is the unripe fruit of a Lychee Tree in the Philippines. Lychee are very sweet fruits that grow in south east Asia. The Lychee is also known as Soap Berries. I have seen Lychee's for sale at many oriental markets in the United States but also at the Wet Markets in the Philippines.
